Don Hanks of Lone Star Speaks at Military Flight Training USA
Advances in aviation demand advances in management of flight training. Lone Star delivers predictive analysis to meet the challenge.
DALLAS, TX – NOVEMBER 04, 2016
The introduction of 5th Generation aircraft is changing military aviation. These systems bring the advent of networked aircraft, capable of sharing sensors, weapons, and communications.
These challenges were the center of many discussions at Military Flight Training USA conference in San Antonio this week, where Don Hanks spoke. (http://www.militaryflighttrainingusa.com/)
Mr. Hanks is Vice President for Performance Optimization at Lone Star Analysis.
“The cost of training will quickly become unaffordable if not managed wisely,” Hanks said. “The complex mix of training aircraft, simulators, and the emergence of Live-Virtual-Constructive training requires large capital investments, a highly professional training cadre, and sophisticated tools to manage the training enterprise. “
“Predicting the performance of the enterprise is critical, before spending tax dollars. This includes the predicting performance of training production, and predicting the proficiency of the students we train.”
“This sort of multi-discipline predictive analytics has only recently become possible. But today, we can integrate predictive analytics which include training assets, the instructor cadre, student loading across the syllabus, maintenance needs, and, perhaps most importantly, predictions of skill accumulation and proficiency in the student cadre. Lone Star has been delivering this kind of predictive analysis for government and corporate clients, and the capability has saved millions of dollars.“
He is in a unique position to know. A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Hanks entered Air Force Flight Training, and flew the T-38 (now schedule to be replaced by the T-X). Hanks later returned to the Academy as an instructor. He leads Lone Star’s Performance Optimization line of business, which provides enterprise level management tools for clients across Lone Star’s client base, including the military flight training community.
